WMA

WMA is an acronym for Windows Media Audio. The files that contain the .wma extension are audio files used that are used mostly for music. WMA files are compressed, similar to MP3 files. WMA files are usually used to play music and other audio over the Internet or on a portable audio device. However, unlike MP3 files, WMA files cannot be used on Ipod or Iphone devices. The Microsoft Zune is one of the portable audio devices that can use the proprietary WMA file format to play music and other audio recordings, such as audio books.

MP3

MP3 is an audio coding format for digital audio. Originally defined as the third audio format of the MPEG-1 standard, it was retained and further extended-defining additional bit rates and support for more audio channels-as the third audio format of the subsequent MPEG-2 standard. A third version, known as MPEG 2.5-extended to better support lower bit rates-is commonly implemented, but is not a recognized standard.
